10. Can a copyright owner assign the copyright of his work to another person?

Copyright is transmissible by assignment as personal or moveable property (see section 101 of the Copyright Ordinance).  An assignment of copyright is not effective unless it is in writing signed by or on behalf of the assignor.

Further, an assignment of copyright can be partial.  The copyright owner may assign selected things that he has the exclusive right to do as the copyright owner and/or a part of the period for which the copyright subsists.
