1. What do the symbols ® and ™ symbols mean?

The ™ symbol is used on marks which are unregistered or in the process of registering, whereas the ® symbol denotes that the mark is a registered trade mark.  The use of the ® symbol on an unregistered mark is a criminal offence and you may be liable on conviction to a fine.
