Who can be received into guardianship?

There are two categories of mentally incapacitated persons (MIPs) who can be received into guardianship. 

 

The first type is for MIPs who are mentally disordered, i.e. suffering from mental illness. They can be received into guardianship if their mental disorder is of a nature or degree which warrants his reception into guardianship. 

 

The second type is for MIPs who are mentally handicapped, i.e. intellectually challenged. They can be received into guardianship if their mental handicap is of a nature or degree which warrants his reception into guardianship.
