After making the guardianship application (Cap. 136E, Part IV)

After applying for guardianship, the applicant needs to apply for guardianship directions (Cap. 136E, section 11).

After receiving the directions application, the Secretary of the Guardianship Board shall send a copy of the application to the following persons (who are not the applicant) so that they will have the chance to present their views to the Guardianship Board: (Cap. 136E, section 2)

  1. The MIP
  2. The guardian of the MIP
  3. Director of Social Welfare
  4. Relatives of the MIP (as the Guardianship Board thinks fit)

Directions can be given in writing. In some circumstances, the Guardianship Board can decline to give guardianship directions, and give reasons for the refusal. (Cap. 136E, section 12)
