2. An attorney’s authority, duties and liabilities

The prime objective of an EPA is to allow the donor to authorize an attorney to deal with his/her financial assets.  It is therefore very important to choose the right attorney.  While it is entirely up to a donor’s discretion to choose his/her attorney, the law has set out some provisions to regulate the power and responsibility of an attorney.
