7. Does registration of a company confer any trademark rights? Can I set up a company with names similar to a registered trademark?
A company name registration at the Companies Registry or a business name registration at the Business Registration Office is not the same as a trade mark registration at the Trade Marks Registry. To obtain protection under the Trade Marks Ordinance, you have to obtain a trade mark registration with the Trade Marks Registry.
