26. Can employers require a male employee to provide a statement about detail of the child’s birth (such as the name of the mother)?

If the employer so requests, the employee must provide his employer with a written statement signed by him stating: (1) the name of the child's mother; (2) the expected or actual date of delivery of the child; and (3) that he is the child's father. To comply with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, employers should remind their employees to obtain the consent of the child's mother before disclosing her personal data.
