4. Power of Commissioner for Labour to make regulations
Under section 7, the Commissioner for Labour may prescribe or provide for regulations in respect of industrial undertakings, which can prescribe offences for breaching the regulations.
At present, there are 30 sets of subsidiary regulations which cover various aspects of hazardous work activities in various industrial workplaces.
Penalties under such regulations
The maximum fine that may be prescribed by a regulation made under section 7 for an offence is $400,000 and the maximum imprisonment is 12 months.
